Removing excessive windblown hair at the top of the head creates fewer distractions and looks more natural.
Smoothing the lips creates consistency with the already-retouched facial area.
Fixing the chipped tooth makes the photo more professional, since this is a staff photo.
Removing the white blur at the bottom right minimizes distraction in the blurry background, since all other elements (trees, building, windows) are easily recognizable.
For this retouching project, I selected my university staff photo, which had been somewhat retouched by the photographer, but there were specific elements I wanted to change further. In addition to making the changes in response to the design thoughts above, I also removed some small specs of fuzz from my sweater and several beauty marks.
